set featured image but show video on homepage

Hi BadJohnny,
For a video post, I’m wondering if it is possible to set a featured image, but in the grid layout homepage, have the video player instead of the featured image as the thumbnail.
The reasons why I would like to set a featured image for the post: so it can appear as a thumbnail for facebook link, and a thumbnail for related posts that appear at the bottom of each of my posts.
Is this possible? I hope I explained it clearly..

Yes, the featured image of video or audio post will only display in the recent post widget which will place in the sidebar. If you want to show the featured image, it needs to modify the php code, you can let me know the wp login details with private reply, I will help you to change the code.

For the related post, I think you can use third-party plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/
