Need to remove the old theme first, and reinstall the new version, however, I suggest you can wait for V1.1, I think I will release this new version again tonight.

1. For add image button to the menu bar, I’m not familar with any related plugins, but as my understand, you need to add custom button HTML into header.php, I suggest you create a child theme if you will change the header.php file.
For example, add the following HTML above
<nav id="primary-menu">...</div>
<div style="float:right;"><a href=""><img src="" /></a></div>
Adjust the code above to what you want, it’s only a general idea, because the customization issue is not included in the support 🙂
2. For remove the search icon, go to “Samsara Options > Custom styles > Hide Search Button From Menu” , select Yes.
3. For remove the bottom widget area, , go to “Samsara Options > Custom styles > Remove Bottom Widget Area“ , select Yes.

I have already updated the theme to V1.09 today morning, but without upgrade the theme option framework.
I conservatively estimate I will upgrade the theme option framework within one month at least, because I need time to learn the new framework documentation and upgrade our three themes one by one.Thanks!

Sorry for the inconvenience.
I’m not sure any one particular reason for it provisionally, but anyway I will think about upgrade the theme options framework to Redux Framework in the future after I purchased the license and understood the framework functions.
