Check the following screenshot, you made a wrong setting in “setting > reading > Posts page”, just leave it default value, don’t select any page.

The other hand, you must set the featuerd image for each portfolio post, otherwise, they will not show up. (I’ve done.)

Try to change the page slug to the other name, for example, my-portfolios, works, and so on.
